Oak View Elementary – Maple Grove, MN

Oak View Elementary Serves the northern neighborhoods of Maple Grove and Western Osseo. It is centrally located between Osseo High School and Maple Grove Senior High. Students from Oak View Elementary attend Osseo Junior High, and Maple Grove Senior High based on current zoning for schools (performed in 2014).

 

Oak View Math Masters

Oak View Elementary Students are traditionally outstanding performers at the Minnesota State and Regional Levels. In 2015 Oak View Elementary students, participated in the regional Math Masters of Minnesota Challenge. Math Masters is designed to promote excellence in critical thinking skills and problem-solving abilities as well as provide recognition to students for academic effort and achievement. Math Masters is supported by The Hormel Foundation as well as many other individuals and businesses.

 

Oak View Elementary’ s 5th Grade DI Team

After claiming 3rd Place at the Minnesota State Destination Imagination (DI) Competition, the Team qualified for the Global DI Competition held in Knoxville, TN. The team placed in the top third of all competitors. Destination Imagination (DI) is a creative problem-solving challenge with the purpose to inspire and equip students to become the next generation of innovators and leaders.  DI Team members must complete challenges that encompass STEM, Improv, Performing and Visual Arts skills. Team “Close Encounters” earned first place in Improvisation Elementary Level.

 

Oak View Elementary State Breakfast Challenge Program

Oak View Elementary cares about student wellbeing. Oak View Elementary is one of 3 schools in District 279 that participates in the Minnesota State Breakfast Challenge. The School Breakfast Initiative is a partnership between Hunger-Free Minnesota and Children’s Defense Fund-Minnesota. Financial support comes from The General Mills Foundation, the Cargill Foundation and the Midwest Dairy Council.

Research studies by Deloitte/No Kid Hungry and the National Dairy Council demonstrate that children who start their day with a nutritious school breakfast have a better attendance record, higher math test scores and improved graduation rates. Surveys of school teachers by No Kid Hungry also overwhelmingly show that school breakfast works to keep kids focused, behaved and learning.
